Someone posted something about a program that scans the vista files looking
for corruption of system files. Anyone know what that might be? I have been all through the previous posts but cannot find it. All of a sudden today I cannot read or write to my CD drive. About all it does is eject under software control. I am thinking it's a bad driver. Bob |

Hi Bob,
The command is 'sfc /scannow' and it's done from an elevated command prompt. However, I don't think this is your problem. Difficulty in reading/writing to an optical drive usually traces back to either a dirty lens or a faulty drive or connecting cable. For the lens, try a lens cleaner disk. Reseating the cabling may help as well. Otherwise you may need to simply replace it. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Bob D." <bobd@dog.net> wrote in message news:eRlC%23LOaJHA.5676@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Someone posted something about a program that scans the vista files > looking for corruption of system files.
